For me to read a book from “cover to cover” in a few hours means that book totally captivated me. I could not put it down, as I was drawn into the life of Laura Wellington.
It became almost “life like” with the heart felt thoughts, and honesty about an everyday love affair. Well, done. - Reviewed by Daryll H. via Amazon
A letter from the publisher to the author about this remarkable book!
Laura,
Periodically after we release a book, I pick it up to read it with fresh eyes and to get an idea of other marketing methods. I started reading your book in December just a few pages at night before I would go to sleep. Then, in January my mother died, and the way it happened really ripped my heart out. Your book sat on my nightstand untouched for several weeks, I just couldn't read about the death of a loved one when my own pain was still so raw.
Finally, I picked it back up and finished it, and shortly thereafter I had the most wonderful moment with my mother and now I am at peace. I am still healing but the horrible pain I had over how she died is no longer there. I'm still processing all the information she gave to me because this just happened, but I know now that I am going to be fine, and I am going to get through this.
Anyone who loses a loved one that they are deeply bonded to can find comfort and healing in this book.
Thank you for having the courage to write it. -Reviewed by Tammy (WMP CEO) via Amazon
I am an avid reader. By that I mean I love books and cannot be without one. A good book can take you to places you have never been or teach a new skill. A great book can change your life. This is a great book! After suffering a tragic, life altering loss I wasn't sure I could finish Laura Wellington's book. "Be Careful What You Wish For" - How many times have I heard this in different contexts? Too many but not like this. From the first page I was swept into a world both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I couldn't help questioning the ideas of fate and destiny and what part they played in my own life. The ending, or is it just the beginning, will leave you breathless and wondering, is it worth the pain to open oneself to such vulnerability? As one who was and is experiencing what transpired I would answer YES. The alternative would be to miss "The Dance". Thank you, Laura, for this well written, heart wrenching but life affirming story. I highly recommend it! – Reviewed by Amazon Customer via Amazon
Be Careful What You Wish For is a magnum opus about love. Its protagonist, Evie, relates her story as past history to a new friend. A tale of human and beyond human interaction and caring unfolds -- to a surprise ending. The love of Evie's life is her boyfriend/husband/father of her children, Rick Remington. That very romance-genre name is, in part, a construction by Rick's father, Baron, who has changed his name from a more ethnically-- focused one. Rick's family is Jewish, and Evie converts to Judaism to be more of one piece with her intended husband's family. The young couple enjoys an almost idyllic existence for about ten years, despite Baron's disinheriting Rick after a disagreement. Then an interloper attaches itself, and the family must work out some unexpected challenges. Throughout the story, the reader is given reminders that love manifests itself constantly throughout Evie's life, and Rick is still a presence for her and her children, who sense him, as well. The story is relatable as one of a functional family that struggles but works together. As its lessons unfold, the tale entertains and holds the reader with a combination of realities and mysticism. – Reviewed by Carolyn Davis via Amazon

Insight: The first impression of the book that is the title and the cover, creates an intrigue in the reader’s mind. The tale that the author tells is a love story that is beyond the realms of possibility. It is so uncommon in this day and age. As the pages unfold, you find the book to be a systematic flow of life journey that includes love, romance, family, promises, divinity, and a touch of psychic medium. The book is a fairy tale love story of Rick and Evie, loss of a loved one, grieving, healing, moving on and finding new love.
Review: The story starts with the protagonist Evie, anxiously waiting for someone and that turns out to be Debra, whose identity is not revealed initially. Evie sets on to narrate her life story to Debra, which is not less than a fairy tale that includes Evie and Rick's meeting, romance, marriage, kids, parenting. Then something happens that turns their perfect life upside down. The second half of the book is an emotional rollercoaster ride.
The character Rick, is someone every girl would desire. But then, be careful what you wish for. At one point of time Evie is stuck in the love that liberated her and yet binded her. She is in search of answers of the gnawing questions that life threw on her. The book ends with a beautiful revelation that seals the power of true love.
Strength: The title of the book goes well with the story. The book holds within the whole gamut of emotions like humor, anger, laughter, sadness. The language is rich and expressive. The fine use of words would definitely add to the vocabulary of the reader.
Weakness: People who don't believe in paranormal activities and psychic medium would find it hard to believe.
With around 204 pages, the book is quite expensive.
Target audience: Women, men and those who have lost their loved ones.
Age group: 18 years and above
Genre: Romance, fiction.

Be Careful What You Wish For has so many layers. There’s love, loss, identity, the understanding, and importance of having faith. It is the belief that despite the trials and tribulations you may endure that pain doesn’t last always. In this story, one woman learns who she is and what she’s capable of, and in doing that, she’s able to reclaim her heart’s desire.
Laura J. Wellington welcomes readers into the life of Evie. What she yearns for is an unconventional type of love, and she finds it in Rick Remington. Rick has this zest for life, and meeting Evie only amplifies it. Her essence captures him, and he does the same for her. They fall in love, get married, and have children.
But their fairytale doesn’t last forever. Rick has cancer. This news rocks the family to their core. Be Careful What You Wish For is a story about forgiveness, a story about learning how to let go, and at its center; it’s a story about finding love, whether that be within yourself, family, friends, or with a partner.
I appreciated this novel because of the story it told. Evie and Rick’s story could be mine or yours. Wellington’s book reads as if it’s real life. The characters and plot were solid. I could picture the conversations between each character, the places they traveled, the emotions they felt. These are some of the things that draw you in as a reader, and I was invested. I noticed a few punctuation errors, but nothing that deterred me from finishing this book.
Be Careful What You Wish For is a beautifully written story. If you love romance, stories that aren’t one-dimensional, have engaging dialogue, insightful real-life lessons, and will have you hooked from start to finish, I suggest Laura J. “It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” Be Careful What You Wish For is a heart-warming romance by Laura J. Wellington. When Evie met Rick Remington, she just knew he was her soulmate, although Rick’s wealthy, domineering father disagreed. The couple made Rick’s business idea a reality, while having the family they wanted. Life was perfect until Rick’s ailing health issues worsened. Evie knew she had to find the inner strength to hold her young family together throughout this traumatic ordeal.
It wasn’t easy, but she worked diligently to save the business that supported her family. Evie experienced numerous obstacles and heartache throughout her life. The deep love she and Rick shared kept her going to maintain normalcy for her family. However, Evie felt she was missing something from her personal life but didn’t want to be disloyal to Rick’s everlasting devotion.
“There’s no pretending I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I’ll love you then.” The protagonist, Evie, narrates about her life with deep, sentimental emotions. She’s a remarkable woman who has endured a lot of heartache, but also has had a lot of happy memories too. Evie has proven that “sometimes we have to lose ourselves in order to find ourselves.”
Laura J. Wellington forgot to mention that reading Be Careful What You Wish For would require a box of tissues to dry my tears that she knew would come. Her novel is engaging, stirring, and beautifully written. It comes straight from the heart. I cannot find the right words to accurately express how much I like this book, because it has left a profound impact on me. I encourage you to read it as it’s written by a very talented author, Laura J. Wellington. – Reviewed by Michelle Stanley via Goodreads
Love is to live for and die for. This book was nothing less than a heavy rollercoaster ride. This is a story of Evie, the protagonist, who is narrating her story to Debra. In the beginning, she was in the relationship with Steve. However, she was quite unhappy with him. It was not long after when she met Rick and soon after, they started dating. They fell in love with each other.
It was not an ordinary kind of love, it was one of a kind, a kind that Evie has never experienced in her life before Rick. Later on, they tied knots, got married and have children. Everything was unfolding like how it was planned but life isn’t bed of roses and a tragedy knocked on their door which swept them off from their feet.
Now, with their life upside down, how are they going to face the reality and fight it? The story unfolds smoothly but with quite a few twists and turns. What happens at last? Does it have a happy ending after all? Well, you have to find that out on your own. This story offers the kind of love you don’t usually see now days. A beautifully written story of love, loss, spirituality, grief, bond, and hope.
I liked most of the characters and they were portrayed in an excellent manner. No doubt, I loved the character of Rick throughout. Well, the suspense that has been built around Debra is quite nice. I truly enjoyed it and finished the book in two sittings. Excellent read for fiction lovers. I highly recommend it. MUST BUY. – Reviewed by Prashant Singh via Goodreads

❤️A perfect blend of many things like love, faith, loss, identity. The author welcomes the readers with Evie and her desire for an unconventional type of love. And she finds Rick Remington. They both fall in love and soon get married and have children, but this perfect looking story is not what it actually was.

I finished Be Careful What You Wish for by Laura J. Wellington and what a ride it was! I don’t have a single regret.
The book starts with Evie, our protagonist, narrating her life story to a lady named Debra. Who is Debra, you might ask? Well, that is revealed at the very end, and I clearly don’t have any intention of spoiling it before. Evie’s story unfolds slowly, with her meeting her soulmate at a party, marrying him, having a big family and then something devastating. Really devastating. Again, I can’t give out more details about it because all of us hate spoilers.
The book is about true love; love beyond anything. It is about family; the topic that touches me the most. The storyline was amazing, and I loved the characters. To be honest, I did not like the cover when I first saw it; and started the book wearily. But the story turned out to be totally different. An amazing one!
All I have to complain about is the bit lengthy first half and an abrupt ending. It ended almost suddenly when I was having so much fun reading it. Anyways, the book says ‘To be Continued’ on the last page, and I am excited about what happens next! I wish the author all the very best for her. – Reviewed by Booxoul via Goodreads
Evie tells her story of her life with Rick. From the moment they met all the way through to having their four wonderful children. However, tragedy strikes the family when Rick gets cancer. We follow this couple as they come to terms with what their life now will entail, and the struggles that they must deal with.
Anyone who has dealt with cancer either first-hand or seen someone suffer will know that it is a tough and emotional time to go through. Laura J Wellington writes a truly emotional story that will tug at your heart strings.
Rick loses his fight with cancer, and now the story focuses on Evie and how she will move on with her life. She finds it tough going, and it does highlight how cancer affects not only the sufferer but also their family and friends.
The story then takes a turn where a friend of Evie tells her to get in touch with a medium. I am very skeptical about this sort of thing and the whole speaking to the dead. However, I also do believe that whatever makes you happy then go ahead and believe.
Be Careful What You Wish For is an emotional read it will also open up your mind to other beliefs. – Reviewed by Honestmamreader via Goodreads

Such a powerful love between husband, wife, mother, father and children. How much love can a parent have for their children? Evie has such a positive outlook on life.
