I Was Ten When I Went for A Walk Review
Cover: The cover is bright and cheery. The image of the boy makes you smile. Combined with the title, this cover is eye catching. 5 STARS
Concept: Many authors have written books about their health and their faith. I Was Ten When I Went for A Walk isn’t your normal book. In this book, John Anderson shares his memories and his diagnosis. Through memories of himself and his family, he shows how he discovered his faith and why it is so important for him now with his diagnosis. 5 STARS
Character Development: Through his memories, the reader gets to know John and his wife. There are funny memories that almost make you wish you’d been there to see it. The one with the police officer I would have loved to be in the backseat for it! I won’t spoil it, but it is funny. Anderson has a way of making the reader feel like they not only know him but his family as well. 5 STARS
Scene Development: Anderson takes the reader to the different places he has lived for each of the memories. I felt like I was there watching as Kathy backed the van up that day into the garage door. When there was another incident with the van, I felt like I was Anderson as he rushed to deal with it. 5 STARS
Entertainment Level: This book is short and easy to read. I found myself laughing and being on the verge of tears as I read each page. Anderson has a way of making the reader feel as if they are sitting beside him listening as he reminisces about his life and how he came to have such a strong testimony of his faith. 5 STARS
Overall, I give this book 5 STARS. A definite read for anyone who may be questioning their faith for whatever reason.- Reviewed by Award Winning Author, Shannon Simpson
