Crach Ffinnant 1 The Phrophecy

“’Crach Ffinnant’ The Prophecy”—It’s 1375 and the Welsh people have been “long chastised, ridiculed and ruled by the English…their hearts, heavy with doom. A great prince is waiting in the wings, not yet ready to rule but well placed to do so. He knows not at this time the destiny written for him but will awaken to come forth when the heavens decree, leading the down-trodden people to freedom.” A dwarf named Crach listens respectfully as his master relates the prophecy but wonders what it has to do with him, “a small man in a much bigger world!” That’s when his master, an aging wizard named Llwyd ap Crachan Llwyd tells Crach his apprenticeship of ten years is over and he must go on a long journey to the land of the accursed English where he will ultimately serve the future prince of Wales and fulfill his destiny according to the prophecy. Crach panics and protests.

“Calm yourself, Crach,” Master spoke softly. “Do you honestly think I would send you on such a journey without all that you need to do what you must do? Keep your eyes on the heavens. A solution exists for every problem and it’s always a simple one. Justice always prevails. It is the way of all things!”

Crach Ffinnant The Prophecy Reviews

This book is not just a story, a beautiful story, but Lazarus Carpenter's way with words is something I haven't had the pleasure of reading in quite some time. This book reflects the time, effort and dedication put into it to bring the book to readers and that gives me such a warm feeling. I honestly am marking this Author, my new 'to follow author.' Not only does his heart and soul reflect in this book, but in a world where good books and fantastic reads are lost under piles of junk, this was honestly such a pleasure to find. An absolute treasure to have Crach Ffinnant in my library collection. I am holding my thumbs that there is more to come from Lazarus Carpenter. – Reviewed by Anon192281 via Amazon

Cover Design- The cover is unique and alludes to the story within. However, if I were to see this cover as I walked through the bookstore, I would glance at it but not pick it up to read it. 3 Stars

Character Development-
Carpenter introduces his characters in a way like that the reader feels like they are meeting them in person. As if they are there with Crach meeting them. Crach seems like a happy little dwarf, only to happy to help anyone he comes in contact with. No matter who he meets his outlook on life doesn't change. The illustrations Debbie Eve did throughout the book allows the reader to visualize Crach and the characters as they read. 5 Stars

Concept- I thought the concept for this book was unique and intriguing. The way Carpenter describes Crach's journey and the things he does was superb. I felt like I was there as he performed at the circus The detail; he gives in each scene enables the reader to visualize what is happening. It makes the reader feel like they are a character within the story. 5 stars

Plot/Sub-Plot- I loved how the story is told from Crach's point of view. It enabled me to see the people he encountered through his eyes. Each new character he met added to the overall way Crach approached life, the way he met the future prince, even though at the time he didn't know, was unique and likeable. I wanted to punch that jerk Edmund, so I was happy when he was. I loved the way Carpenter introduced more people or dragons at the appropriate time, then explain how Crach knew them by having him tell a tale to those he was with. 5 Stars

Entertainment Level- I enjoyed reading Crach Ffinnant the Prophecy. I am curious to see where this tale goes next. I can't wait to see what adventure Crach goes on next and who he encounters along the way. 5 stars

Overall 4 ½ stars.
